This MGM south seas drama was shot on location by W.S. Van Dyke (and an uncredited Robert J. Flaherty), and features Monte Blue and Raquel Torres in the story of romance and the encroachment of modern civiliation.

This DVD-R edition has been mastered from 35mm archival print materials, and is presented as originally broadcast on the Turner Classic Movies network. As the film was shot as a silent film but later printed at a sound-speed rate to accomodate the synchronized soundtrack, the film often runs at a faster than natural-speed rate. The source print has a common amount of dust and speckling, emulsion chipping, and other occasional print flaws.
The film is presented with its original 1928 synchronized music and sound effects soundtrack. The sound quality is rough in places with some occasional acoustic distortion.
This is our recommended home video edition of the film.
