Ratings (1-10): video: 7 / audio: 7 / additional content: 8 / overall: 7.

This Blu-ray Disc edition has been mastered from the 35mm restoration print prepared by the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung, and reveals an excellent HD scan from a very-good to maybe excellent Dutch 35mm source print held by the Eye Film Instituut Nederland. The Dutch intertitles have been translated for English subtitles from German censorship records. No digital stabilization or clean-up has been performed as the source print is significantly marked with dust, speckling, schmutz, emulsion chipping, small processing blooms, and other print flaws. The picture image would fare better had some digital work been done.

The film is presented with a music score composed and performed on theatre pipe organ by Brett Miller.

Supplementary material includes the main presentation of The Oyster Princess (1919); and audio commentary for both films by author Joseph McBride.

This is our recommended home video edition of the film.
