This DVD collection of 54 films, mostly culled from Lobster Films’ Retour de Flamme French home video series, groups diverse films into presentations entitled “New Beginnings,” “Magical Movies,” “Seeing the World,” “Laughing Like We Used To,” “Drawings and Models,” “Grace Notes,” “Persuade Me,” and “Tell Me a Story.”

Supplemental material includes a 16-page insert booklet with notes on the films.

This collection is an absolute necessity for anyone fascinated by early film technologies, and is many times worth the price of admission. Unfortunately, the disc is now out-of-print.
