The Opera House Theatre opened in 1901, but the original theatre burnt in 1905. Partially rebuilt, the theatre reopened in 1908, with a formal opening celebration in 1911, only to burn again in 1912. Again rebuilt, the theatre reopened in 1913. The theatre featured silent films between the acts of plays and vaudeville sketches.

The theatre converted to sound films in the early 1930s, installing the Voice of Action system from Western Electric. The building finally succombed to fire once again in 1947.
